Many financial compliance companies run on legacy systems, Excel sheets, and siloed workflows, perpetuating errors across workflows. I built Muninn to demonstrate what compliance software can look like when you prioritize product design from day one. 5 days. 307 commits. 60+ components. No Figma.
Role: Product Designer, UX Researcher. Team: Solo. Timeline: January 19 to 29, 2026 (10 days). Stack: Claude Code, Claude Cowork, GitHub, Markdown.
Muninn is a financial compliance workflow platform demonstrating what modern compliance tools could look like when designed for the people using them, not just the data pipelines behind them. The project also serves as a methodology case study: how product designers can now build functional systems, not just mockups, when AI handles implementation.
I wanted to understand what was possible when you remove organizational friction from the design process. No committee meetings. No Figma handoffs. No waiting months for engineering resources. The premise: you do not need to be a domain expert to build functional software when you have AI and good product thinking.
Financial compliance platforms face unique design challenges: complex regulatory requirements, multi-step approval workflows, data-heavy dashboards, and users who range from compliance officers to operations managers. Legacy systems in this space prioritize data completeness over usability, creating tools that technically work but actively hinder the people using them.
Designed and built a complete compliance platform including an operations dashboard, transaction management, assignment center, help center, and split-view interfaces. Every component was designed with real compliance workflows in mind, balancing regulatory requirements with intuitive user experience.
Used Claude Code as an AI implementation partner, treating it as a junior developer who could execute design decisions in real-time. This eliminated the traditional design-to-development handoff, allowing rapid iteration directly in code. The approach produced 307 commits across 10 days with 60+ functional components.
Building compliance tools? A designer from day one changes everything.
